Michelle likes to dress in dark clothing, enjoys art and has a keen interest in all things supernatural. These are not things you would expect from a teenage girl. We felt that the stereotypical representation was unfair and only fit a certain amount of teenage girls in the world. Having this representation as well made the film seem more realistic. We created Michelle’s character to completely contrast that of her friend Nadia. We felt it would be effective to have the friends being complete opposites.
